Emerging Choreographers' Project Blackbox

NFB Studios
September 19-20, 2025

We begin the 2025-2026 season with our student-led Emerging Choreographers’ Project Blackbox at the Northwest Florida Ballet Studios on September 19 and 20 at 7:30 p.m. Showcasing the innovative choreography of selected members of the NFB company, this production features ballet and contemporary works set to a diverse range of music genres, accompanied by a visual art exhibition that offers audiences a compelling glimpse into the next generation of artists from the NFB Académie.

More than just a production, the Emerging Choreographers’ Project Blackbox is the culmination of a deeply rooted educational journey at NFB, where students are trained in the technique of classical ballet, as well as the artistry of storytelling and choreography. Middle school dancers in the NFB Académie begin their exploration of the creative process through annual workshops and peer performances. Our Pre-Professional Program students in grades 9-12 continue their classical training while also studying contemporary ballet, jazz, and modern dance.

Now, after a decade of informal choreography showings and focused workshops, these young artists have the opportunity to present their choreography in what has evolved into a public-facing, fully realized production. Additionally, funds raised during the performances will support the Pre-Professional Program field trip fund and the NFB Community School scholarship fund.

The Emerging Choreographers’ Project Blackbox is brought to you by Season Signature Sponsors Life Media and NFB’s Official Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Provider, NFBJS Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Surgeon Dr. Sonya Ahmed.
