Students are placed in appropriate levels after the first class. NFB reserves the right to change student levels if needed. Age may not determine level.

Sharon Allen, NFB Asst Artistic Director and NFB Dance School Director

Sharon Allen holds BFA in Dance from Radford University, studied with North Carolina School of the Arts, Richmond Ballet, and Boston Ballet School. She has performed with Ballet Theatre of Boston, Boston Dance Co., Impulse Dance Co., Mill Mountain Theatre and Southwest Virginia Ballet. Ms. Allen taught ballet and jazz for the Harvard-Radcliffe Dance Department, Jeanette Neill Dance Studio, Boston, Fort Wayne Ballet, and University of West Florida, and is a certified instructor of Pilates through PhysicalMind Institute and Pilates Certification Center. She studied acting with The Studio at Collinge/ Pickman Casting in Cambridge, MA, and has been featured in Back Stage Magazine.  Most recently Ms. Allen’s choreography has also received recognition at the Panoply Arts Festival.

Bernadette Clements Sims, Founder

Bernadette Sims studied with many of the great master teachers including Robert Joffrey, Alexandra Danilova, Richard Englund and Duane Dishion. She performed with the Mobile Ballet, the Birmingham Ballet and the New Orleans Ballet. In 1969 she founded the Fort Walton Beach Ballet, which became the Northwest Florida Ballet in 1983. She has served as the President of the Southeastern Regional Ballet Association, the Florida Dance Association, and was elected the Southeastern Regional Representative to the National Association for Regional Ballet. Her choreography for Silk Road Suite won first place at the Panoply Choreography Competition. 

Jennifer Cordiero, NFB Dance School Instructon

Jennifer Cordiero studied with Frances Herron and other faculty in the dance department at Okaloosa Walton Community College. While at Okaloosa Walton College she received a General Associates Degree with early childhood education and development classes. Most recently she danced as Dorimene in The Bourgeois Gentilhomme Suite at the College accompanied by The Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra. She also enjoys performing with JazzyBlueDance's Community Dance Project and is currently a psychology major with plans to get a master's degree in dance therapy.

Patricia Perez-Borroto, NFB Dance School Instructor

Ms. Perez-Borroto has studied with Latin-American masters from the Ballet Nacional de Cuba and Ballet Concierto de Puerto Rico, such as Miguel Campanería, Ana Maria Castañón, Jorge Esquivel, María Julia Landa, and María Teresa del Real. At the age of 13 she was accepted to the Ballet Municipal de San Juan where she performed with the company's Corps de Ballet under the direction of Juan Anduze and Vanessa Ortiz until 1997. Her classical repertoire includes Coppélia, Don Quixote, Carmen, Sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker, and Swan Lake's "Danse des petits cygnes". She holds a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies, including Elementary Education. She will be completing her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Puerto Rico; School of Law in June, 2009.

Kelly Murdock, NFB Dance School Instructor

Ms. Murdock has a B.A. in dance from University of Colorado, Boulder. She has been teaching for more than 20 years and is currently on staff at OWC. She has danced with Dayton Ballet, Fort Walton Beach Ballet, and Northwest Florida Ballet.

Cristi Perry, NFB Dance School Instructor

Ms. Perry is a native of Colorado. She earned her BA from Colorado Women’s College in Denver. She has performed with Abilene Civic Ballet, Colorado Concert Ballet and Dance Wyoming. While stationed in England, she took professional level exams with the Imperial Society for Teachers of Dancing. She has been teaching ballet and jazz for over 20 years.

Kimalee Piedad, NFB Dance School Instructor

Ms. Piedad is a native of Fort Walton Beach and has trained and performed with Northwest Florida Ballet from the age of nine. As a NFB Company dancer she performed a number of solo roles in NFB productions while still in high school. After graduation she was invited to join the Louisville Ballet, and in 2002 she joined Ballet Met in Columbus, Ohio.

Danielle Sartin, NFB Dance School Instructor

Danielle Sartin  has been dancing for 19 years and holds a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Humanities from University of West Florida and alumna of Okaloosa Walton College. While at OWC, Danielle studied dance and was the Captain of the Raider Rhythms dance-line. She appeared with OWC Soundsations and performed on tour abroad to France.  Danielle has graced the Mattie Kelly Fine & Performing Arts Center in the musicals Anything Goes, and Aida, and  has been an awarded as a choreographer for StagerCrafters Community Theatre musical, Godspell.
